2025 South Carolina Region 1 Science Fair Registration Guide
Welcome to the registration guide for the 2025 South Carolina Region 1 Science Fair.
This page aims to simplify the registration process for schools, teachers, and students. Below, you'll find an organized overview of each phase in the registration process.
For a smooth and error-free registration, we advise reading through the entire procedure carefully. It's crucial that all steps be completed by the specified deadlines.
Registration Steps:
Teacher Registration
All teachers with students planning to attend must register first. This step ensures that we can account for all participants from the start.
Project Account Creation
Setting Up: Each participating project needs to establish an account. This is where you'll submit necessary documentation and receive updates about the fair.
Pre-Approval for Junior and Senior Divisions (Grades 6-12)
Ensuring Compliance: Projects within the Junior and Senior Divisions require pre-approval before any experimentation begins. This is to ensure compliance with safety and ethical standards.
Complete Registration for Projects and Students
Eligibility for Participation: Every project and all associated students must finalize their registration to participate. This confirms that all participants are officially recognized by the fair.
ISEF Forms for Junior and Senior Divisions (Grades 6-12)
Submission of Forms: Necessary for projects and students in these divisions, the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) forms verify adherence to the fair's guidelines.
Optional Media Release Form
Media Visibility: Submission of a media release form is optional. However, students who do not submit this form will not be featured in photographs or any other media published or utilized by the Fair. This ensures respect for the privacy and preferences of all participants.
Following these steps ensures that you meet all requirements for a successful participation in the fair. If you have any questions or need further details, please refer to the provided contact information on this page.
Registration Guidelines for Teachers and Participants
To ensure a smooth and efficient registration process for our event, please follow these organized steps and instructions:
Teacher RegistrationMandatory Registration: All teachers with students intending to participate must register in advance. This initial step is crucial for facilitating subsequent project registrations.
No Penalty Clause: Should you register without eventually having any students participate, rest assured, there is no penalty.
Early Registration Encouraged: To streamline the project registration process, we highly recommend that teachers register at their earliest convenience.
Alternative Registration for Non-Participating SchoolsHome School Projects: If your school or teacher is not involved in our program, students can still participate by registering as a home school project.
Teacher Registration Requirement: A registration under the teacher category is still necessary for official participation. For this purpose, use the student's last name as the school name and register a parent or guardian in the teacher's role.
By following these guidelines, you will help us organize a more efficient and inclusive event. We look forward to your participation and are excited to see the innovative projects your students will present.
Project Registration Process for the Fair
To participate in our fair, please follow the structured steps below for a seamless registration and submission experience:
Account CreationInitial Step: Each project interested in participating must create a dedicated project account.
Functionality: Through your project account, you will have the capability to:
Add students to your project.
Submit pre-approval paperwork.
Complete project registration.
Submit final ISEF forms and media releases.
Account Limitations by DivisionElementary and Junior Divisions: Schools participating in these divisions are limited to a maximum of 10 project accounts each.
Senior Division: There are no account limitations for projects within the Senior Division.
This structured approach ensures that all projects are registered efficiently and comply with necessary paperwork submissions. We encourage you to begin this process at your earliest convenience to facilitate your participation in the fair.Registration and Submission Guidelines for Senior and Junior Division Projects (Grades 6-12)
To ensure a streamlined participation process for Senior and Junior Division Projects in our science fair, follow these structured steps:
ISEF Rules Wizard Completion Initial Step: Begin by completing the
ISEF Rules Wizard. You'll be asked a series of questions about your project to determine the necessary ISEF forms.
Form Identification: At the end of the questionnaire, you will be presented with a list of required ISEF forms to fill out accurately.
Pre-Approval RequirementsMandatory Pre-Approval: If the ISEF Rules Wizard indicates the need for IRC and/or IRB approval (forms 1C, 2, 3, 4, 5A, 5B, 6A, 6B, and/or 7), these completed forms must be submitted for pre-approval before any experimentation, construction, research, or testing begins.
Consequences of Non-Compliance: Failing to secure pre-approval or starting your project without it will disqualify your project from participation or limit the awards it may receive.
Submission InstructionsUnified Submission: All required pre-approval paperwork must be uploaded at once, in formats including PDF, JPEG, DOC, and DOCX, with a total size not exceeding 8MB.
Photographic Submissions: If a scanner is unavailable, photographs of the completed forms can be taken with a cell phone and uploaded.
Review Process: Our staff will review submitted documents, notify you and your teacher of the outcome, and provide further instructions if necessary.
Importance of Completeness: Incomplete submissions will be rejected, potentially delaying your project. Projects failing to meet deadlines will not be eligible for special awards or first place in their category.
General Requirements for All Divisions (All Grades)
Abstract SubmissionAbstract Requirement: All projects, regardless of division, must submit a 250-word (maximum) abstract detailing the project.
Content Guidelines: The abstract should outline the research hypothesis, procedures, data, and conclusions. For engineering projects, it should describe the build objective without a hypothesis, emphasizing the project's operational success upon completion.
Presentation: The abstract should be a clear, concise paragraph. It is advisable to have several copies available by your project for public and judge review.
By adhering to these guidelines, participants can ensure their projects meet all necessary criteria for successful entry and review in the science fair. Participation Guidelines for Student Projects
To maintain an organized and fair event for all participants, please adhere to the following regulations regarding project submissions and team sizes:
Team Size and Project LimitationsA maximum of three (3) students are allowed per project.
Each registration and project ID corresponds to only one project.
