NSDSAMF now requires pre-approvals before students can begin their experimentation
Certain projects will need to submit pre-approval forms to our SRC team before they begin their experimentation. See our ISEF forms page for details. Submitting pre-approval does not register you for the fair. All qualified projects will still need to register online.

Welcome to the Online registration 101. This page is designed to facilitate the registration process of schools, teachers, and students for 2024 Northern South Dakota Science and Mathematics Fair (not NSU Science Bowl). Below you will find detailed description of each phase of registration. It is recommended that you read the entire registration procedure in order to avoid any errors in registration process.

Step 1: Every school that has students attending needs to be registered first
Step 2: Every science teacher that has students attending needs to be registered
Step 3: Every project and all its students need to be registered in order to participate
Step 4: All participating projects are required to submit ISEF forms to us, some before they begin their experimentation

All steps must be completed by our deadlines

(Step 1) School Registration

Who should complete this step: Teacher, school associate or parent if home schooled
Every school with participating student needs to be registered first. There is no penalty for having a school registered and not having any participating students. Schools are encouraged to register themselves as soon as possible, to expedite the project registration process.

If your schools is not officially participating in our science fair program, you can still register as a home school project. You still need to register school and teacher for official participation. Please use your last name as a school name and register student's parent or guardian as a teacher under your home school name.

Every school is responsible for submitting $150.00 registration fee for their participating projects (up to 50 students). No late registrations or changes will be accepted! Registration fees must be received by our deadline. Checks must be made out to "Northern State University" and mailed to:

(Step 4) ISEF Forms

Who should complete this step: students, teachers, mentor or parent for younger students
Depending on project topic, some projects will be required to fill out and submit ISEF forms to our SRC (scientific review committee) staff for pre-approval, before they begin their experimentation. Upon approval, students may begin their project experimentation. All participating projects will be required to have two (2) hard copies of their ISEF paperwork at their projects at the day of the fair. See our ISEF forms page to see if you need pre-approval, to obtain your forms, instructions on how to fill the forms out and submit them online.
